The SUHI Foundation, pledges scholarships annually to qualifying seniors and also funds other programs that benefit the current students at Sweetwater High School. Our organization is staffed mostly by volunteers* so 100% of your contribution will go directly to scholarships and programs through our grant-making. You can designate your donation to one or more of the following lists of funds/programs by clicking on the donate button next to the fund. The SUHI Foundation Primary Fund – The primary fund of The SUHI Foundation awards annual University and CCTS Scholarships, Mini-Grants, Matching Grants, AP Exam Grants, and provides funding for special projects. General donations to support Sweetwater High School’s “Greatest Needs” including program funding for faculty- and student-led projects should be made to the Primary Fund. Contributions to other new funds can also be made here – just designate your donation in the comments section!

Special Project Fund: Sweetwater High School Historical Museum – In collaboration with Sweetwater High School, The SUHi Alumni Association and The SUHI Foundation we are raising funds to bring the Sweetwater High School Musuem to reality. The Class of ’63 Scholarship – The Class of ’63 awards at least one single-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
The Class of ’64 Scholarship – The Class of ’64 awards a 4-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
The Class of ’68 Scholarship – The Class of ‘68 awards at least one scholarship in the amount of $500 to a student(s) who intends to attend a community college OR a trade/technical/vocational school.
The Class of ’76 Scholarship – The Class of ‘76 Scholarship awards at least one 1-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
The Class of ’93 Scholarship – The Class of ’93 will award at least one single-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
The “Mr./Miss Sweetwater” Ken Aramburo Memorial Scholarship – The “Mr./Miss Sweetwater” Scholarship awards a 1-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000 per year.
Pat Peace Browning Memorial Scholarship – In memory of “Mrs. Peace”, an English teacher at Sweetwater High School from the mid-1950’s through the late 1960’s, to honor her legacy of empowering students to succeed. Initially in the amount of $2,000, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates a commitment to community service and helping others.
Manuel “Memo” Cavada Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship fund has been established to honor the memory of Memo Cavada, a Class of 1962 alumnus who captured the images of thousands of Sweetwater HS students as he served as the official school photographer since the 1980’s until very recently. Memo left a lasting imprint on SUHi and the broader community through his many contributions. The goal is to award at least one scholarship in the amount of $1,000 beginning in 2021 and beyond.
Laura R. Charles Memorial Scholarship – The Laura R. Charles Memorial Scholarship was established in remembrance of Ms. Charles who taught at Sweetwater High School for over 47 years. In honor of her love and dedication to SUHI, a scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has completed at least 2 semesters of VAPA performance courses. The goal is to award a $1,000 scholarship annually.
Alan Dodson Memorial Scholarship SUHI Class of ’68 – This scholarship is in memory of fellow classmate Alan Dodson. A 4-year scholarship is awarded in the amount of $3,000 per year.
Luis “Louie” and Patricia Natividad Scholarship – This scholarship was established in honor of Louie Natividad, a SUHI Class of 1961 alumnus and his wife Pat. Consistent with the family’s legacy and commitment to social justice, the scholarship will be awarded to a student who exemplifies this through her/his current community involvement and future career interests. The goal is to award at least one $500 scholarship annually.
Project Letterman – Through a rigorous application process, Project Letterman awards letterman jackets to deserving students who have earned a Varsity letter in a sport or other activity. A donation of $300 covers the cost of one jacket award. The goal is to award at least 20 jackets each year. Currently, donations are matched by the Morgan Family Foundation – double your impact today!
Joanna Colada Memorial AIA Scholarship – $1,000 per year per student will be awarded to a student who is planning to attend a community college or trade school in the following fall after their graduation and was a member of the Sweetwater Union High School’s Asian International Association

The Demosthenes, M.D., Ph D. 1944 SUHI ALUMNUS and Gus, J.D., C.P.A. 1946 SUHI ALUMNUS, Pappas (Pappagianes) Scholarship – Two scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each per year, renewable for up to four years. Applicants must have achieved a GPA of 3.0 and have been accepted to either UC Berkeley or UC Davis to be considered for these scholarships. One scholarship will be given to an applicant accepted to UC Berkley and one to UC Davis.
